COLRAIN CENTER VILLAGE VISIONING SESSION SUNDAY
The Colrain Center Village Master Planning Committee will host its second Visioning Session on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 5:00 PM at the Colrain Central Elementary School, located at 22 Jacksonville Road. Local officials, businesses and residents of Colrain and other interested parties are invited to join their neighbors to share their vision for the future of the Center Village. The evening will begin with an opportunity to meet with other attendees and enjoy light refreshments. A representative of the Franklin Regional Council of Governments (FRCOG) will review the draft Center Village Master Plan that the Committee has developed with FRCOG assistance over the course of the last two years. The Center Village Master Planning project has been supported through funding from the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development’s District Local Technical Assistance Grant Program. Attendees will then break into small groups to focus on specific subject areas related to the Center Village, including Vitality and Business Development, Housing, and the Landscape and Built Environment. The discussion will also address the critical question of wastewater infrastructure and how decisions about that issue may affect future plans for the revitalization of the Center Village.
The Center Village Master Planning Committee consists of the following members: Jack Cavolick (Chair), Joan Rockwell, Scott Sullivan, Joan McQuade, and Janice Barnes. The first Visioning Session was held in June 2013 and was attended by a broadly representative group of 20 participants who helped to develop the vision and Action Plan included in the draft Center Village Master Plan. Members of the community have also attended the Committee’s open meetings and provided thoughtful input that has informed the planning process. This second Visioning Session will allow the community at large to revisit the draft Plan’s recommendations in light of new opportunities to address challenges facing the Town and more recent revitalization efforts in the Center Village.
