Town Tax Bills

1st quarter due August 1, 2025 and 2nd quarter due November 3, 2025

Hello Everyone, The new fiscal year 2026 tax bills were mailed at the end of June. There are two bills in this mailing. 1st quarter due August 1, 2025 and 2nd quarter due November 3, 2025. Please note, if a due date is on a day the collector’s office is not regularly open then the payment will be received without penalty during the next regular scheduled office hours. My office hours are Tuesdays and Thursday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Town tax payments can be made online (online payments are not accepted for Fire District tax), mail drop box (located on the second set of green doors at the town office which is available 24/7) or by mail. If you require a receipt include a Self-Addressed Stamped envelope with your payment.

A few things to know about quarterly tax bills.

  • The bills are mailed out two times per fiscal year (June and December)
  • There are two quarter bills in each mailing.
  • You can pay your real estate, personal property and district taxes by quarter or pay both quarters at one time. Please pay the “pay this amount” line on your bill.
  • 1st quarter and 2nd quarter bills are preliminary bills based on last fiscal year taxes and the 3rd quarter and 4th quarter bills are “real bills” based on a new tax rate.
  • Town real estate and personal property tax can be paid online at Colrain-ma.gov go to the home page and click on pay online then follow the prompts. (District taxes cannot be paid online at this time).
  • On the online payment portal you can access your payment records going back to the year 2000. By clicking on the links located on the right side of each record.
  • On the online payment portal you can get a record of your calendar year payment for tax return purposed by clicking on “IRS payment records for year 2025” and click on search. (that will be available in January of 2026. Currently 2024 records are still available).
