      General Discussion...
      Discussion was fruitful with input from those present regarding possible topics to be addressed as well as potential solutions and approaches. Generally, there is significant support for preventing overregulation and allowing an easy path to allowing Short Term Rentals by right or through a minimal permitting process, but there is also concern about potential negative impacts on neighbors and the desire to provide necessary protections against those impacts, such as noise, traffic, safety, etc...

      A suggestion was made for potential separation of Short Term Rentals into different groupings in which one group may require a Special Permit and one may be allowed by right. Some suggestions of ways to draw the line between distinct groups included the number of rooms to be rented, the number of days rental occurs per year, whether the property is owner occupied or not at the time of rental.
