Green Communities Designation Grant Awarded

On Thursday, May 2nd the Colrain Town Office hosted Judith Judson, the Commissioner of the DOER (Department of Energy Resources), Nick Connors, Director of Green Communities, Scott Shelby DOER Director of Government Affairs and Jim Barry Green Communities Regional Coordinator to celebrate our new status as a Green Community.   We were presented with a "big check" representing the $130,000 which we now can use "to reduce energy use and costs by implementing clean energy projects in municipal buildings, facilities, and schools".

About the Colrain Energy Committee

The town warrant of May 2016 unanimously approved appointment of the Colrain Energy Committee. Our mission is to develop an energy plan that will prepare the town of Colrain for a future that will require a significant decrease in the use of fossil fuel as a source of energy in town buildings, businesses, residences, and vehicles. We will develop a plan that moves Colrain toward the increased use of local clean energy sources to stabilize long-term energy costs while strengthening our local economy to benefit us all.
