Appointed and Elected Officials Term Start Date

Elected officials start their term as soon as they are qualifed (take the Oath of Office) by the Town Clerk. Per MGL Ch. 41 Sec. 107, the Town Clerk must be sworn in on the 7th day following the election or as soon thereafter, by the Moderator or a Justice of the Peace.

The Select Board has determined that appointments to the various committees and boards will begin with the fiscal year (July 1st). All appointed persons may not act as a member of the board/committee until they are qualified by the Town Clerk.
